An Update On Our COVID-19 Policies and Procedures

To Our Clients:

We are reaching out to inform you of our recently updated policies and procedures in light of the COVID-19 virus emergency. Our priority is to keep you and our staff safe while still offering needed care for your pets.

Both of our hospitals are currently OPEN to provide veterinary services care for the animals in our community. The state of Washington has declared veterinary hospitals to be ESSENTIAL during the state’s stay-at-home order enacted on March 25, 2020.

Residents are permitted to travel with their pets to veterinary hospitals so that their pets can receive veterinary care. We will do our best to help manage care as much as possible over the phone, including consults about refills or ongoing medical conditions, however, we often need to physically examine the pet in order to be able to provide an accurate diagnosis and treatment. 

As you may be aware, we are currently seeing patients on a “curbside service” basis only, with clients waiting inside their vehicle while animals receive the care they need. Until further notice, if you are concerned that your pet is uncomfortable or in pain (itchy skin, signs of possible infection, changes in behavior, etc.) or that they may be having a medical issue, PLEASE CALL US. With one phone call to our staff, we can help you determine which route of care will be best (and safest) for you and your animal companion. If your pet needs to be seen by our team, we can examine them in a way that protects YOU and US both.

In some cases, we may be able to schedule phone and/or video consults with our veterinarians, so that any quarantined, symptomatic, or concerned person can remain at home. 

Our hospitals have always adhered to the highest standards of cleanliness and care, and as a result of the COVID-19 spread, we have implemented other significant changes in our operations to keep you, your pets, and our staff safe. Those changes include:

  • actively pre-screening about household health risks
  • screening all employees to ensure that no employee has a fever or any signs of illness and that they have not been exposed to anyone under quarantine
  • practicing physical distancing among employees and dividing them into smaller work teams 
  • deep cleaning the entire hospital grounds each day
  • repeatedly disinfecting every item, tool, and piece of medical equipment that may have been touched by a human
  • enhanced hand-washing protocols

The health of our patients, clients, and staff is vital to us—it is our mission and our passion and we do not take it lightly, especially in these difficult times. We are working hard to ensure that everyone stays safe and healthy by following and exceeding all COVID-19 precautions and recommendations from the American Veterinary Medical Association and the nation’s top veterinary institutions.
